New licence-linked qualification consultation

We have launched a consultation which will help to determine the content of the next generation of licence-linked qualifications. The consultation will run for four weeks concluding on 26 October.

These specifications below are important because they form the basis of the licence-linked qualifications for people to obtain an SIA licence. The specifications outline what an individual needs to know and be able to do in their role as a security operative enabling them to perform their duties in a manner that will not cause harm to themselves or any member of the public.

These specifications include suggestions made by our expert working groups – (advisory panels composed of industry representatives and subject matter experts from awarding organisations).

We would like you to review these specifications and let us know what you think. Your input will help us to get things right, and will lead to real benefits for both the private security industry and the public.

The draft specifications for the licence-linked qualifications are:

Door Supervisors
Protective Service Operatives (close protection)
Security Officers (previously security guarding)
Conflict Management
Physical Intervention Skills
Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Operators
Cash and Valuables in Transit Operatives
Vehicle Immobilisers
Common Security Industry Knowledge
