Another Abandonment – This time Forest Green Rovers v Mansfield Town

More inclement weather over the weekend saw one or two matches postponed across England and Scotland plus quite a few in Ligue 1 in France.

Forest Green Rovers fought hard to get their match on against Mansfield Town, but just as happened at Accrington the week before, continued pouring rain brought safety into doubt and the Match Report on BBC.co.uk had the following to say…

Forest Green Rovers’ League Two game against Mansfield Town was abandoned at half-time after heavy rain left the pitch waterlogged.

Torrential conditions throughout the first half in Gloucestershire left referee James Linington with little choice but to call the match off at The New Lawn.

Linington had earlier called both captains together to discuss safety concerns, but play continued.

There are weather warnings for rain and snow in place across the country.

Both clubs will reveal a new date for the rescheduled fixture in due course.

For the second time in a week our colleagues, in this instance Mark Smith,

have been faced with challenging situations brought about by the weather and the signs are that this might continue into the winter.
