My response to the Immune Response Class by Caroline Barrow

Published by Leave your thoughts

What an interesting 4 days... What a wonderful additional set of ways to use this therapeutic approach.

I dont think I was too sure what to expect from this class - I certainly thought I would consolidate my understanding of the immune system and that I would be able to use this more precisely in treatments. What I was amazed by (and I confess a little resistant to at first!) was the idea that you can tune into the craniosacral rhythm of the immune system itself. Also you can tune into different tissues and then into the Immune system within that tissue..... Why is that useful?

Doing the Diplomate by Caro O’Neill (CST-D!!!!)

I applied for my Diplomate Essay Questions over 3 years ago...sound familiar?!  I took one look at the questions and thought “where do I start” and so put them in a box and didn’t look at them again for several months!  Eventually I got them out of the box again and began on question one “What is SER?”  Well we all know what SER is but you try to put it into writing!  So I chose another question!  And so it went on until I was inevitably left with the most challenging questions.

The end of an Era…

Published by Leave your thoughts

The 2013 Cranio Sacral Society AGM has marked the end of an era.The society was started in 1999 when John Page and other practitioners, who were finding themselves drawn deeper into this CST work, felt that it would be benificial to the practitioners of their discipline to have a society that would represent their interests and needs,

Dr John’s Memorial Service, from John Page

Published by Leave your thoughts

Led by his son John Matthew Upledger, CEO of the Upledger Institute, a small team of family members and Upledger Institute colleagues went to great lengths to arrange a fitting memorial and celebration of the life of John Upledger, who died on 26 October 2012. This happened on 15 December at Jupiter in Florida where I was privileged to attend on my own behalf and as your representative. While there I resolved to write something in an attempt to convey an impression of a day that was not just extraordinary but that typified him. With my characteristic zeal I determined to do this on my return. But although at the time the experience made complete emotional sense it is only now that I have been able to make logical sense of it sufficient to put into words.

The day’s simple plan had us assemble in the Jupiter Resort’s so-familiar ballroom at 2pm. An hour’s “welcome” would be closed by Stan Gerome’s sublime flute after which thirteen speakers - John’s children, other family, friends and colleagues, gave readings or anecdotes - some deeply moving, some hilarious. How typical for John.

The Talking Pig! by Caro O’Neill

Having just returned from Florida and the' Beyond the Dura' Upledger Institute International conference I feel inspired to write to tell you all a little bit about it. All the presenters were fabulous, inspiring and wonderful to listen to. It was great to hear about all the new work being done all over the world. 27 countries were represented there and it made me realise that we are so much part of a global growing awareness of the wonderful work we do.
Due to my interest in the research side of things i would also like to mention the various interesting projects going on all over the world.

CST- CranioSacral Transformation: A Testimonial from a patient of Sheila Hoy

I am a six foot two inch, 63 year old and have suffered from lower back trouble since the age of 28. This has been compounded in the shoulder/neck region in recent years by helping my 30 year old disabled son Tom move around (head injury from a car accident 10 years ago and wheelchair bound), including walking and transferring from chair to chair/car. Luckily my health is otherwise good and I have always led an active life despite these problems.

Up until the last four or five years I had regular osteopathic, then chiropractic treatment, to help my mobility/discomfort issues but this was becoming less effective as time went on - only achieving a short term 'fix' at best.
