The Sports Grounds Safety Authority announces appointment of new Chief Executive –

The Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) welcomes the appointment of Karen Eyre-White as its new Chief Executive.

Karen joins on secondment from the Home Office on 13 July 2015. In her current role she leads a national litigation casework team delivering the Government’s immigration objectives. Karen is a civil servant with a broad range of experience delivering Government priorities in both policy and operational environments.

She is supported by the Board members comprising of;

Alan Coppin – Chairman 
Alan has extensive experience in industry including 10 years at Wembley where he was Chief Executive.

Brendon Batson
A former professional footballer, Brendon became deputy CEO at the Professional Footballers Association. During this time he was chairman of PFA Financial Management Ltd (1989-2002) and was awarded the OBE in 2015 for services to football. He then became managing director at West Bromwich Albion plc (2002-2003). He is currently a sports consultant and chair of the Professinal; Players Federation(PFF).

Pauleen Lane 
Pauleen Lane is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and works in a number of roles dealing with contruction, infrastructure and public interest. She is currently a Group Manager with the Planning Inspectorate. She holds a degree and doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Manchester. She is also a non-executive director of Liverpool Womens Hospital. She has previously been a local councillor, deputy chair of English Partnerships and served on the North West Development Agency and the Tenant Services Authority. She was awarded a CBE for services to local government.

Peter Rowley 
Peter retired as a director and Chief Executive of Darlington Building Society in 2009. Previously Chairman of Sport England North-East he is a board member of Sport England, Chair of Skills Active UK, a Trustee of Tees Valley Community Foundation and chairman of British Weight Lifting.

Derek Wilson 
Derek is a practising architect. He was a Principal of HOK Sport until 2006, and was previously a Director of Lobb Sports Architecture. He has specialised in stadium design and sports event masterplanning (including London Olympic Park) for 20 years. He was Head of Design and Overlay for the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG), and now runs his own practice.
