Showsec at FSOA October Conference

SHOWSEC’S commitment to the enhancement of public safety in sports stadiums will come under the spotlight when the Football Safety Officers’ Association gather for their annual conference at Walton Hall Hotel in the Midlands.

A prominent feature of the partnership between the crowd management and event security specialists and the FSOA is a sharing of common goals which aim to provide an even better match day experience for football supporters.

In their capacity as main sponsor of the authority, Showsec will continue to work closely with the FSOA on initiatives focused on improving in any way possible public safety at football stadiums for both matches and non-football events.

“With any partnership, it is important that the association works productively for both parties, and that has certainly been the case with our ongoing sponsorship of the FSOA,” commented Mark Harding, Showsec’s Managing Director.

“We are proud to be linked with the FSOA in this way and there is a clear synergy to focus on the continued improvement of public safety.

“That excellent relationship helps us to achieve common aims in taking crowd safety techniques to a new level and creating safe environments within football stadia for all kinds of events, especially as an increasing number are non-football.”

He added: “In particular, we are both committed to achieving the highest standards of learning and development among those responsible for public safety and that will certainly be an important part of moving forwards with this partnership.

“A recent example of this was our joint involvement with the United Kingdom Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) to help facilitate the development of a new fit-for-purpose stewarding qualification, the Level 2 Certificate in Event Stewarding Operations, which serves all event needs at entry point level to the security industry.”

John Newsham, the FSOA’s Business Development and Membership Manager, welcomed news of the continuation of Showsec’s sponsorship.

“We are delighted that Showsec will be continuing as our main sponsor,” he said. “The support we have received from them over the past few years has certainly been a major influence upon the progress made by the association.

“Even more importantly though, there have been significant developments focused on spectator safety and customer experience at stadiums, so we look forward to there being further progress in that respect in the future.”

Harding will be part of a delegation from Showsec who will attend the FSOA Annual Conference which takes place on Wednesday 14th October.

Regional Manager Alan Wallace will sit on the panel for the gathering of Football Safety Officers, while also attending will be Carl Symes, the Company’s Project Manager at Manchester City, Keith Hackett, Richard Church and Sam Hodkin.
