Anniversary Games organisers left red-faced after box office mishap sees thousands of fans stranded in the rain

Usain Bolt and Mo Farah thrilled the crowds on their return to London – but their performances in the Olympic Stadium only added to the frustration of thousands of fans who struggled to get in.

Huge queues built outside as fans who had paid up to £50 for tickets had to wait for up to two hours in the cold and rain to collect them. Some gave up and went home, meaning they missed seeing the Olympic champions.
